We started this year off with a fun trip out to the east coast! We’ve only ever been to NY once and this would be our first time getting to capture a wedding there. It was also our first time getting to visit Saratoga Springs, and we already cannot wait to go back! Shortly after capturing Alex & Kelly’s engagement, they informed us they would be getting married in NY and were wondering if we’d be up for the trip to be a part of it? To which we said heck yeah! If you’re thinking to yourselves, ‘Hey, those cuties look familiar,’ that’s because we captured their engagement last winter in here downtown Jackson and Glacier View Turnout! (Click here to see more). We were excited for multiple reasons but mainly to work with Kelly & Alex again. After spending the day with them for their engagement session, we knew this one would be special. They are easily one of the most kind hearted and genuine couple’s we’ve had the pleasure of connecting with over the years. Seeing how excited they were to get married just made us that much more eager to be a part of their special day!
Their wedding was held at the Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY and the experience was second to none. The unique amenities, the friendly staff, and the luxurious space definitely made this historic hotel stand out from he herd. Kelly & Alex were kind & generous enough to include us in the guest count for a room block and even though it was technically a work trip, staying at The Adelphi made it feel like a lavish getaway (thanks a million you guys!). Staying there also afforded us the opportunity to connect with many of their family and friends prior to the wedding day which was awesome. I feel like I could’ve hung out and talked with both of their dads for hours and their bridal parties welcomed us with open arms. We even got to try out one of their favorite local coffee places, Uncommon Grounds (amazing if you get a chance). Getting to hear stories of Alex and Kelly from the people that know them best added to that overall experience and really gave us a closer look at their lives. One of our favorite things about their wedding day was the weather. As photographers, there are certain elements that can make our process harder, easier, etc. Having snow on a winter wedding day for us just makes it that much more special. Kelly previously expressed she wanted to snow on her big day and wouldn’t you know it, even though it was looking like it may not snow earlier in the week, the bottom fell out the morning of their wedding and hung for the entirety of their day! Another one of the details we loved about their wedding day was one of the unique things they did during the reception. They decided have two people whom they considered mentors give a speech during their wedding. It ended up being their previous bosses, but it was apparent to everyone that their relationships were far more than that. One of mutual respect and love. I think during this part of the reception there was hardly a dry eye in the house and for us just being observers, it was very moving. I could go on and one about these two and their special day but we tend to do our best talking visually. With that, congrats to Alex and Kelly and their families and we hope you all enjoy following along on this amazing day!
