It’s been nearly 4 1/2 years since we’ve done a blog like this and by that I mean writing one and sharing just because. For us, the last 4 years have felt like a lifetime being business owners. We’ve been through 2 elections, the dumpster fire that was 2020, the fall out from 2020 as it pertained to the wedding & event industry, accommodating all of those couples displaced during that time which saw the next two years be the busiest we’ve ever had. Then somewhere in there, we also decided to renew our vows at 10 years, start a business in a different state, purchase home in a different state, all the while trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy with our social lives, hobbies, and families. Getting to do what we love for living, combined with driven personalities, and admittedly so we can tend to be workaholics. With all of the above and a few big life events over the past 4 years, you could probably guess that we didn’t have too much time for travel or vacation, and you would be right. It can be hard to plan things with friends and family doing this for a living just due to our weird schedules and booking things over a year out. Thankfully for this most recent trip, our family knew this and took the reigns on planning and coordinating, and by family I mean Amber (thanks Amber). All the credit to her for planning every detail of this amazing trip and letting us know far enough out so that we could be a part of the fun. Over the past 4 years, our family has also experienced some big losses so this trip with family, away from it all was really just what the doctor ordered.
For this trip we spent 8 days exploring Glacier National Park, as well as just hanging out with family. We hiked…a lot. We even hiked skyline trail in the rain which was insanely beautiful and breathtaking (literally and figuratively). We chilled at night watching the olympics, cooking at home, and even squeezed in a UFC. We did a little off roading, saw some of the most spectacular views you can imagine, and seemingly we all got hooked up skipping rocks at some point. The second place we stayed for me was the highlight of the trip. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve really learned to appreciate the simple things in life. Well our second lodge was as simple as living gets. No internet, no tv, no washer or dryer. Just a rustic old cabin, views for days right next to a beautiful lake, and we ended up being about 10 miles from the Canadian border. Every night was a combo of poker, laughs, telling stories, and enjoying some quality downtime without the distractions of the every day hustle and bustle. Naturally doing what we do for a living, there was a lot of picture taking as well, lol. For this of you that clicked this link just for the visuals, you will not be disappointed. Glacier lives up to all of the hype and that was even with it raining half of the time we were there. The combination of lush greenery, wild life, big mountain views, and scenic scenic drives, was almost sensory overload. It’s easy to see how this place has a reputation amongst many as being the most beautiful national park in the US. For us, it truly was the trip of a lifetime and one we’d encourage all of you to take at some point! We hope you enjoy the imagery and following along with us and our fam!
